George King (1930-2024) was admitted to practice in California in 1959 and was the founder of the firm.  Mr. King’s practice was very diverse, focusing on litigation involving commercial and insurance issues.  Mr. King had substantial experience in the areas of labor and employment law, insurance coverage, attorney malpractice, contested probate matters, construction and partnership disputes, and mediation.


Mr. King performed his undergraduate work at Stockton College and the University of California at Berkeley.  He received his J. D. from Hastings College of Law, University of California in 1958.  From 1978 through 1995 he served as Senior Vice President of Claims for Lawyers’ Mutual Insurance Company before retiring as a member of the Claims Committee, Continuing Legal Education Committee and the Board of Directors of that Company.  He also was a former member of the California State Bar Commercial Code Committee and former Chairman of the State Bar Group Insurance Committee. He was a member of the Advisory Commission on Malpractice Insurance, California Senate Committee on Insurance Claims and Corporations.  He was a member of the Contra Costa County Superior Court Mediation Program.  He also acted as a Judge Pro Tem on behalf of the Oakland-Piedmont Judicial District and Contra Costa County Superior Court.


Mr. King authored numerous articles involving legal malpractice and other matters including: co-author, “Legal Malpractice – Inadequate Case Investigation,” 16 POF 2nd 549, Bancroft Whitney 1978; “Damages – The Constructive Receipt Myth,” CTLA Forum, Vol. XVIII, No. 6 July/August 1988; author “Legal Malpractice – Estate, Will, and Succession Matters,” 24 POF 2nd 577, Bancroft Whitney, 1981; “Legal Malpractice: The Coming Storm,” California State Bar Journal: “Legal Malpractice Insurance,” The Bottom Line Newsletter, the State Bar of California Economics of Law Practice, Spring, 1981; “The California Workman’s Compensation Law – What Every Steel Worker Should Know,” 1966 Edition.  He also acted as a moderator of various continuing education courses involving Legal Malpractice Prevention.  He served as a panelist at a Health and Welfare Public Entities Seminar.  Mr. King held a Class D Lifetime Teaching Credential for Labor Law.
